The National Pilot Car Safety Institute has been formed for the purpose of Pilot/Escort Car Certification, Training, Safety and Public Awareness by experienced and concerned individuals with expertise in various aspects of the OVERSIZE LOAD Transportation Industry.
For years the Pilot Car Industry has been a “Mom and Pop” type of business, operating mostly “Under the Radar” of public awareness and regulatory scrutiny.

Laws on the books of many States are antiquated and non-uniform. Loads are getting bigger and moving farther. Wind farms and other green energy projects as well as mining, oilfield, construction and aerospace are increasing the demand and exposure of pilot cars. The industry is in need of better trained, better equipped and more specialized operators.
Coming from a wide range of backgrounds and talents, the founding members and supporters of NPCSI share the goal of bettering the Pilot Car and Heavy Haul industry through the Vision, Mission and Goals outlined in this web site.
